You can never go wrong by adding a little touch of luxury to your home! What is luxury? In my opinion, luxury home decor consists of items that are timeless, well-made, and that add a touch of elegance to your home; not trendy, expensive things that will go out of style by next season. While a “luxury” item may come with a higher price tag, it does not mean it’s unattainable if you are on a tighter budget. You just need to know how to find it.

Luxury home decor that is 100% worth it
These fabulous and luxurious items are staples in places from grand palaces to tiny, upscale apartments. Incorporating these design elements in your home’s decor will give your home a posh feel as well.
Statement Lighting
Beautiful lighting can easily elevate a space from ordinary to glamorous. On the other hand, cheap lighting will give an otherwise beautiful space that “Home Depot chic” look.
Lighting is a great way to infuse modern touches into traditional interiors because modern lighting strikes a nice balance with antique furniture. However, if modern lighting isn’t for you, you can never go wrong with a tasteful chandelier.
In my opinion, high-end lighting is the way to go when decorating your home. However, I never pay full price for it and neither should you! The key is patience.
Most online lighting retailers have an open box selection that is sold at a discount. This is lighting that has been returned, but is not defective. It may take diligent checking to find the treasure you’re looking for, but don’t get discouraged. You should also sign up for sale alerts so you can purchase when the price is low.

High-End Fabric
Higher quality fabrics not only look better, but they perform better! Additionally, custom upholstery, pillows, window treatments, and lampshades will always give a space a more finished and intentionally decorated look.
More often than not, if you buy a couch at a big box store (typically at an exorbitant markup), the fabric will easily start pilling and staining. However, if you took the money you spent on that purchase and, instead, invested it in a sturdy, secondhand sofa, performance fabric, and paid someone to reupholster it, you would be better off.
My favorite Facebook Marketplace find to date has been a custom-made sofa, upholstered in Lee Jofa’s Hollyhock fabric. It was made in the 1980s and the fabric still looks beautiful, approximately 40 years later.
Facebook Marketplace is one of the best places to search for upholstered furniture and window treatments made with high end fabrics. A tip for striking gold is searching for vague terms, like custom window treatments, floral fabric, or designer pillows. You probably know what the pattern you’re looking for is called, but people posting an item for sale may not.
Art
Framed art and mirrors are an easy way to add a sophisticated feel to your home. Professional framing can be pricy, but it can make even a simple print look expensive. However, you can save money by purchasing your frame elsewhere. Thrift stores are a great resource for finding pretty, but inexpensive frames.
The best places to find beautiful, framed art at a discount are eBay and antique markets. If there is something specific you are looking for, you can get alerts from eBay when something is listed that matches your search criteria.
The ideal place to find ornate mirrors is Facebook Marketplace. Mirrors are heavy and fragile, which makes shipping them both expensive and risky.
Oriental Rugs
Oriental rugs have been a status symbol for hundreds of years, adorning the floors of countless palaces and grand homes. Add a bit of opulence to your own home by incorporating these into your decor. For tips on styling oriental rugs in your home, check out this post.
These rugs can be expensive, however, they are extremely durable due to fine craftsmanship. If you own an oriental rug, it will likely last well after you are gone.
Again, eBay, is one of the best resources for finding great deals on oriental rugs, especially larger ones. You might need to wake up at 2 a.m. to win an auction, but it’s definitely worth it!
Etsy is another place that I’ve had good luck finding deals on smaller rugs.
Hardware
If statement lighting is the crown jewel in a room, then hardware is the glamorous accessories. Sadly, hardware is often overlooked in new build homes. In the Victorian era, everything from window locks to door hinges was ornate.
Cheap-looking (or worse painted) doorknobs and window hardware really detract from the overall aesthetic of a room. Until you’ve added nice hardware to a space, you don’t realize what you were missing before!
My favorite place to purchase beautiful hardware is House of Antique Hardware. Their prices are reasonable, and they probably run a sale every two months.
Another great option is eBay. You can find lots of salvaged antique hardware for a bargain.
