Dining room design

For me, the dreaming and designing stage is always the most exciting part of starting a new project! The possibilities are endless (that is until you get to the budgeting phase). Recently, I’ve had designs for our dining room on my mind. In high-end homes, it’s very common for dining rooms to have elegant wallpaper. Mural wallpaper for the dining room is a popular choice. So, I’ve decided to round up a collection of beautiful dining room mural wallpaper ideas and some sources to purchase elegant mural wallpaper. This post also details some of my plans for our dining room renovation.

Our dining room progress

When we moved into our house, our dining room, like much of the rest of the house, was painted a dull beige-green. However, with its beautiful antique chandelier, large old windows, and high ceilings, I know this space has great potential! We won’t be able to fully update the space until we renovate our bathroom directly above it. Nevertheless, I did paint the room recently. I got sick of seeing our beautiful, old chandelier against the dull, dinged-up walls so I decided it was time for a change.

On a whim, I chose the color Templeton Gray. This is from Benjamin Moore’s Historical Collection. It has never read gray in my house – always a deep blue-green, which is the same color I painted our built-in china cabinet in the kitchen. Once we remodel our bathroom, I plan to add picture frame moulding, with mural wallpaper inside the boxes, sew new curtains, and reupholster the dining room chairs.

While the color alone is a huge improvement, I am excited thinking about what else we can do. As I continue to dream about my future plans, dining rooms with mural wallpaper will be on my mind!

Where to find mural wallpaper

Many of the gorgeous dining rooms I shared feature wallpapers from Gracie Studio or Iksel Decorative Arts, which are luxury hand-painted wallpaper brands. These are all a bit out of my price range. However, you never know what you’ll find on eBay or Facebook Marketplace! Those are my favorite places to score deals on high-end home decor and furnishings.
