Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4
Thank you for joining me on the journey to complete our guest bathroom renovation in the next eight weeks for the One Room Challenge! If you’re new here, I’m Sasha. My husband, Matt, and I purchased our turn-of-the-century Victorian home almost two years ago, and we have been slowly renovating it ever since.
In case you missed them, my previous posts are linked at the top!
Remember how I mentioned that we would be getting our bathroom tub and sink refinished over the weekend? Well, that did not happen. Funny story – it seems as though the contractor blocked my number… The service was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. When the guy had not shown up by around 11 a.m., I sent him a message, asking what his ETA was. To that, he responded that his wife had had car trouble so he would be running late. Almost two hours later, he had still not shown up or contacted me so I sent him a message, asking if he would like to reschedule. He offered to come the next day at 10 a.m. After reading two messages I sent the next morning, asking about his whereabouts when he did not show up again, my subsequent messages, telling him not to bother coming, were not even delivered.
Luckily, I found someone else to do the job. Hopefully they will actually show up! Have you ever experienced issues with contractors like this?
Accomplishments
It’s a bit discouraging as it feels as though very little was accomplished this week, even though a lot of time was spent on this project. Unfortunately, the new escutcheon plate that I ordered still does not work with the shower system so I need to go back to the drawing board and return it. That issue is a major headache.
On the bright side, a majority of the painting is now complete – only some touch-up work remains – and I ordered at least half of the remaining necessities for this room.
The currently white sash lifts and door hinges will be replaced. I don’t think we will be able to replace the door hinges before the One Room Challenge ends. These old doors are incredibly heavy so removing and rehanging them is not always the easiest task. However, when we do, I plan on getting hinges to match the sash lifts.
It still feels like there is an incredible amount of work left to do, even though we have come so far from where we were at this point last year.
This Week’s To-Do List
Here is a brief snapshot of this week’s to-do list! You may have noticed that not much has changed since last week.
- Finish painting
- Pick up & install additional bullnose tiles
- Install ceiling register cover
- Source decorations

I will be sharing more throughout the week via Instagram stories so please join me there as well. Make sure you check out the other One Room Challenge participants here. Good luck to everyone with your renovations.
See you next week!
