If you’re new here, welcome! I’m Sasha. My husband, Matt, and I purchased our Victorian home about two and a half years ago. Since then, we have been renovating and decorating it slowly, while trying to maintain its historic charm. I have been following the One Room Challenge for inspiration since we moved in, so it was a thrill to participate for the first time this spring when we tackled our guest bathroom renovation! For this One Room Challenge, we will be finishing our sunroom. I will be sharing the progress on Instagram as well as here.
Our Sunroom Before
As with many old houses, there are many things about our home that make us scratch our heads. One of these things was the two small, glass rooms that once comprised our sunroom. I say once as we knocked down the wall separating the rooms almost two years ago. Here’s what it looked like right before we moved in.
As you may be able to tell from the pictures, the individual rooms were too narrow to serve much utility. They also got incredibly hot in the intense heat of a South Carolina summer. We put a cheap couch in the farthest glass room and it melted in a matter of weeks…
Looking back at these old photos of the space, it seems that the farthest room was a later addition, which explains the odd dimensions.
Our Sunroom Now
Next week, I’ll explain more in depth how we got here, but this is more or less what the sunroom looks now. Luckily, knocking down the wall increased air circulation and furniture no longer melts in here.
It has basically sat unfurnished since we completed a majority of the renovation in late winter of 2021. This is why I want to use this season’s One Room Challenge as a push to finally finish this space!
Inspiration
Last spring, I stumbled upon this fabulous Lee Jofa Hollyhock sofa on Facebook Marketplace and decided to pivot my design plan to center around that.
I want this room to feel like an extension of our garden and the outdoors, with delicate floral prints and shades of green, pink, and blue.
The picture below is the picture that inspired me to go with colorful, contrasting trim in this space.
Here is the moodboard I created for this space. I’m excited to see things finally come together over the next eight weeks!
Make sure to check out all of the fabulous spaces that are being renovated for this season’s One Room Challenge here. Thank you for reading. Good luck to everyone with their renovations!

Wow, I absolutely love your design plans! What an incredible find on FB marketplace with that couch – I would love to find a secondhand chair in a Lee Jofa fabric. Can’t wait to see it all come together.
